My grandfather was a US POW during WW2. He only spoke a few times about his experiences. The one thing that stuck with me is that the German NCO’s were actually kind to them but it was the Officers that were the a@#holes. Kinda reminds me of BOB when Popeye was talking about he would probably be friends with some of those same German soldiers if it wasn’t for the war…..

That German General's JAW LINE could have won the war all by itself.

I mean this is a good portrayal of the german army, not all of them are nazis cause people tend to forget that when the nazis rose to power, the first country they invaded was Deutschland

This is the most inspiring speeches in German I have ever heard…well except for the speeches of the little man with a mustache but I don’t understand what he says, I just know it was bad stuff. But I have to admit his speeches are so inspirational.

It must be remembered that there were Germans who did what they could to save the Jewish people against the Nazi State at great personal risk to themselves and all those that tried to do good when being drowned in total evil.These are men and women who risked brutal interrogation, instant execution for aiding them or being sent to the camps; that takes real courage and a lot of personal conviction to stand up to a regime that was mercilessness towards anyone that dared not to conform with its ideologies with full knowledge of the what the consequences will be if caught, they are unsung heroes. Evil can never defeat Good, it may have the upper-hand initially, but eventually it is beaten back and defeated.

Band of Brothers portrayed the german and american side beautifully.. I am uncertain as to wether or not it would be possible to make such a series in todays' climate, but I am certain that it took some balls to do that even then. It ranks as the number 1 mini series in my opinion.

there was a significant difference between the Wehrmacht and the SS. This general and his unit were of the Wehrmacht, true soldiers who yes, were following orders and fighting for each other (even though the principles of that fight i.e. Nazism, were abhorrent) and in fact it was the Wehrmacht who ultimately allied with the Americans to fight against the SS in a couple of later battles.

The German military was possibly the greatest ever. The madman at the top F’d up and headed east. The Japs brought 🇺🇸 into it. We outbuilt them and Russia sacrificed 25M. Much more honorable than the Japs.

Bitterly beautiful moment in the series. When you realise, most of the guys you were fighting were just doing the same thing you were. To one day, an eternal peace, when no sons or daughters have to die in war. 🕊️

For those who think the average german soldier was just some psychotic rapist/murderer/etc you can easily find the records of their treatment of occupied countries and peoples. U.S. sources are very good. The german military, of ALL those involved in WWII, were held to be the most humane captors. They punished the rape and murder of occupied peoples with death, regardless of rank of the offender. Remember that history is written by the victor, and if that is true then that history is proof-read and adjusted by the financiers of the victors. Don't believe all you hear of the German from their enemies.
